So I was at work and one of my coworkers mentioned she liked Supernatural after I said I just bought season 9 on DVD. She told me she and her boyfriend watch it every morning. She said she just watched, “the episode where Dean was dead.”
I just looked at her and was like, “Can you be a little more specific? You really have no idea how little that narrows it down.”

What if one day Sam and Dean cross paths with a Valkyrie, and Dean gets killed by an unrelated monster, and as he’s lying in Sam’s arms the Valkyrie offers him passage to Valhalla. At first both Sam and Dean refuse to even accept that it’s Dean’s time. Between the two of them they’ve been to Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, and back again. But then Dean sees something in the Valkyrie. The same thing he saw in Tessa the Reaper. He sees someone who wants to give people, noble and valiant warriors, the reward they’ve earned. And then he remembered Purgatory, and how pure it felt. And he remembered fighting alongside Benny, and how good it felt to have a brother in arms like him. And he realized that heaven to was never really where he wanted end up. And with his last breath, looked at Sam and said, “I’ll save you a spot at the dinner table.”
